Lee Mack and Tim Vine

Hi, I am new to these forums, so this is my first post!

Recently....well the last 12 months I have discovered the sitcom Not Going Out, don't get me wrong I love my comedy, but for some reason this just slipped through the net, anyway after watching the episodes back many a time, I have got to really like Tim Vine and Lee Mack's comedy style more and more, however, not seen much of Tim Vine on his own, and Lee Mack recently did some sell out prime time show which I thought was a bit crap.

I know they are both regulars on the panel shows, but I find those a bit hit and miss depending on how the guests gel with each other.

Has anyone seen either of them or both of them recently in stand-up, if so what are they like?

Tim Vine's stand-up is slightly odd: I don't think there are ever any of those massive, ridiculous belly-laughs, but you'll be chuckling and giggling pretty heartily all the way through.

Lee Mack is a superb stand-up, and his stuff is really funny.

You think he sold out with All Star Cast? (I asume that's the show you're refering to.) I don't think he did. I just think he wanted to have a go at reviving the old Saturday night variety show. It's not like he's ever tried to make out he's not like that, or anything.

There are plenty of clips of both their stand up on YouTube.

I'd say that's pretty accurate. His stand-up is all one-liners (I believe he once held the world record for most jokes told in an hour), props and puns. To me his act looks like a children's entertainer who's taken some ecstasy before going on stage. I mean this in a positive way, I think he's quite good.

I wouldn't use 'All Star Cast' as a measuring gauge for Mack, I don't think it reflects his usual quality. He has a very clear Eric Morecambe influence on his stand-up style. I would say that if you find Not Going Out funny, you will probably like his stand-up too. I like him.

Tim Vine has me belly laughing all the way through his act, the first time I saw him I was laughing so much that I only caught about 1 in every 3 of his jokes.

Lee Mack is also an excellent stand up, him and Tim are amongst my favourite acts on the circuit, both absolutely brilliant IMHO.

I've no doubt I'd be laughing throughout just like that - if he got me into that state in the first place. If I started properly laughing as you describe, the rest of the set would keep stoking the fire, as t'were.

Maybe I need to take up drink. Everything seems to be funnier to the inebriated.

My son has all of Tim Vine's DVDs and we think every one of them is hysterical!

OK, so it's pun after pun, but we love 'em.

And there's sight gags too:-

And Pen Behind the Ear http://wwtube.com/ww.youatch?v=0pwbQvJDFzQ

Both insane but funny in our eyes.

We have had to watch the DVDs two/three times to get all the high speed jokes.

Pen Behind the Ear!!

You don't need to add any code, any http address automatically makes itself a link. :)

Are you suggesting that I'm an alcoholic? You'll be hearing from my lawyers, as soon as I've finished this can of Special Brew.

Ha ha. No, I wouldn't dare imply such a thing!

Must admit I've somehow never watched him, just heard the jokes here and there and mainly think of him as the half brother of Jeremy Vine from Radio 2! Like that clip though, must keep an eye out for him.

RIGHT!! I've screen printed your examples, both as is and in code, so here goes....

Get a DVD - you won't regret it! Literally a laugh a minute, if not more.

Check out my new found linking knowledge!

PS I know they do not look alike but I don't think he is half (?) brother to Jeremy.
