Bobby Mair pranks Katie Hopkins

Bobby Mair has pranked Katie Hopkins. The comedian appeared on her TV show Katie Hopkins Vs. The World just so he could collect the appearance fee money from her to give it to the sort of people she hates.

Bobby explains: "I thought of the idea when I heard she had a TV show. A lot of my friends said they would never do the show but I thought there has to be a way to do the show and make that the 'fuck you' to Katie Hopkins. I wanted to humanise all the people she makes a living insulting.

"I was researching all the awful things Katie Hopkins had said and when I found out that 40% of transgendered people say they've attempted suicide, and then Katie Hopkins said Caitlyn Jenner isn't brave, I just really wanted to stick it to her."

The comedian explains that, when he came to film a video to explain his actions, the project really came to life. "What was amazing was that everyone had so much to say. I envisioned the video being me making a lot of jokes but once we started filming I realised it wasn't about me. It was about all the people Katie Hopkins had labelled as 'cockroaches', 'unemployable', and 'rapists'. I felt like YouTube's Robin Hood. I took money from Katie Hopkins and just gave it to everyone she hates."

Mair is currently at the Edinburgh Festival performing his dark show Filthy Immigrant nightly until Monday. In a Fringe first, he is using video streaming software Periscope to broadcast his show each night at 8:50pm. Links can be found via @bobbymair. Talking about the concept, he jokes: "I feel like a less interesting, cheaper webcam whore."
