Retired Major Wyatt is horrified when his sister Edwina's house, in an affluent middle-class suburb, is burgled in broad daylight. The self-important major decides to form a Neighbourhood Watch scheme and appoint himself the commanding officer.
One of his more enthusiastic recruits is Peter Pitt, a burglar alarm salesman, who is new to the neighbourhood and sees the scheme as a way to meet his female neighbours - and sell lots of alarm systems at the same time!
