The charmless, 80s-set Essex double-glazing sitcom continues. Sam deals with a lecherous client, Lavender is ripped off by some Irish Travellers and Swann continues to pout furiously. It might be intended as a parody of 80s attitudes but White Gold is too keen to have its cake and eat it to really convince.
Phil Harrison, The Guardian, 27th March 2019TV review: White Gold, BBC2
Did you catch the first episode of the new series of White Gold on Wednesday night? No? Me neither.
Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke, 9th March 2019It seems strange that this 80s-set comedy is back. Consider how odd it is that the BBC resumed production given the hiatus caused by allegations of sexual assault against star Ed Westwick in the US. Westwick denied the claims and was not prosecuted due to insufficient evidence, allowing him to resume his role as uber-double-glazing salesman, Vincent.
Mike Bradley, The Guardian, 6th March 2019TV preview: White Gold, BBC2
The year is 1985. Eight months have passed since Vincent Swan (Ed Westwick) - Essex's premier and most amoral double glazing salesman - teamed up with gangster Ronnie (Lee Ross) and forced his boss Walshy (Nigel Lindsay) to sell Cachet Windows to them for a measly pound coin.
Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke, 6th March 2019White Gold, episode 1 review
