Chris Ramsey, Seann Walsh, Vicky Pattison interview
Virtually Famous, the E4 panel show about the internet's greatest content, is back on our screens. First up, a festive special... followed by a full new series. The show's new line-up is Chris Ramsey as host, with returning team captain Seann Walsh pitted against new team captain Vicky Pattison. The trio talk about the new show below, plus their Christmas plans.
Virtually Famous is back! How do you feel about its return?
Seann: Really happy. I'm going to use the money to buy enough of those curved televisions that I can build a circle of televisions in my living room. Then I'm going to sit in the middle and put on Planet Earth so it feels like I live in the jungle.
Talking of the jungle, Chris and Vicky, you were recently in the jungle for I'm A Celeb. Are you a big scaredy-cat of things that creep?
Vicky: I struggle with the heat but bugs don't faze me, Chris on the other hand screams like a 5 year-old girl at the sight of a mere house fly.
Chris: I think if you claim to actually like bugs and snakes you're an absolute lunatic. It's like a big zoo [on I'm A Celeb] ... but the animals are all out of the cages and ready to kill you.
Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt is a regular on the show. Are you proud Virtually Famous is kind of run by the Geordie massive?
Chris: Technically a North East massive really (Sunderland, Newcastle, South Shields)... like the Holy Trinity of Tyne and Wear!
Vicky: I'm sick of the sight of Chris Ramsey to be honest!
Seann, do you think the Geordies will gang up on you?
I don't know. What I do know is that what was an internet panel show is now closer to a kebab shop on a Friday night in Newcastle. It's the first panel show that needs a bouncer.
What's your host 'style' going to be Chris?
Not sure really... I'm going to stay clear of 70's kids entertainer vibe though. Definitely.
Is it competitive between the team captains?
Vicky: I'm ridiculously competitive. I once 'accidentally' knocked over a game over Connect 4 as it looked as though my 4 year-old niece was going to get the better of me. Not on my watch princess.
Seann: I'm going to make Vicky feel like someone who's soiled themselves at their own wedding.
Do you keep up with the latest internet content?
Vicky: Cats in tiny hats is almost always at the top of my Google search list - I'm also partial to cats and cucumbers.
Chris: I am a big fan of the dead cat quad-copter and I got to touch it on Virtually Famous once!
Seann: I despise the internet. Anyone that uses it to post pictures of food should have to look at those pictures for eternity in the afterlife.
The new run of Virtually Famous starts with a festive special. Why should people tune in?
Chris: I'm sure there will be some absolute gems floating around the web this Christmas considering the year we've had... so Virtually Famous will be there to sift through the best bits and bring them to life for the viewers on the sofa.
Seann: People should watch it so that hopefully another series is recommissioned and I can afford to get my bathroom done. I really fancy chequered tiling at the moment.
What sort of things do you watch at Christmas?
Seann: Bank adverts.
Vicky: I like to watch The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year, Christmas specials of anything at all and really clichéd Christmas films. Think Home Alone, Love Actually and Elf.
Chris: Christmas films! I usually rattle through about 10 if I can. Home Alone being a must.
How do you normally spend the Christmas break?
Seann: Suffering from exhaustion.
Chris: I love Christmas and like to have a nice chunk of time off work; eating, drinking and spending time with family. I have a log fire at home that I love to get going everyday so it's nice and festive... might even roast a chestnut this year!
Vicky: I spend it surrounded by friends and family with my hand in a tin of quality street and an IV drip of Baileys in my other arm. I occasionally sing karaoke. Badly.
Do you have any family traditions?
Vicky: See above. Plus getting so drunk on Christmas Eve that I can barely face my Christmas dinner on Christmas Day!
Chris: I've got a one year-old son so we're in the process of making and creating new family traditions... it's such an exciting time!
Seann: My dad will get arrested.
What's your Christmas tipple of choice?
Chris: I'm a massive craft beer fan, so I just fill the fridge with loads of different types of lager (then fill the other fridge with the cheap lager for guests!)
Seann: 10 Guinness, a whiskey chaser, 4 Jagerbombs and someone else's wine.
Vicky: Baileys or prosecco... or gin... Or white wine... Vodka occasionally... Ok, just alcohol. Don't judge me, it's Christmas!
What are the most memorable presents you've received?
Chris: I got an Action Man helicopter once when the news was saying they were all sold out, couldn't believe my luck! I also once asked for a baseball glove on Christmas Eve, thinking Santa wouldn't be able to bring it in time as it was so last minute... but he bloody did!
Seann: A candle with my face on it so when it melted I got to see what I looked like when I was older. It was a fair gift to myself.
Vicky: I get Turkish delight every year from my grandma... As when I was younger I was obsessed with The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe and Edmund eats it! It's both my favourite present and my least... Favourite because she still remembers after all these years and I love her for that. Least favourite as I am bloody sick of it!
What's your favourite thing about Christmas?
Chris: Literally everything! From the tree to the food to the presents to the house full of family. It's the best! I even like the cold.
Seann: The fact that it doesn't snow anymore.
Vicky: That I get to see my family and friends, be in Newcastle and eat and drink guilt free.
What's your least favourite thing about Christmas?
Chris: Washing up. Wine and champagne glasses don't fit in the dishwasher, it's the worst!
Seann: I hate how happy people are when they buy a chocolate coin.
Vicky: That it is over so quickly and the fact that my hangover isn't... That's a punch in the dick.
What will you be asking Santa for this year?
Seann: A sex change.
Chris: Playstation VR I reckon. We are literally living in the future. I can't wait!
Vicky: I want to go on holiday somewhere nice with my boyfriend and spend more time at home... I don't want to work as hard this year #yolo.
