Up The Workers

I don't know how Johnnie Mortimer and Brian Cooke manage the smooth and delicious mix of Man About the House]. But I can see all too well what Tom Brennand and Roy Bottomley are doing in the sad farce Up The Workers. Usually half a minute before they do it.

It is, it says here, a new series based on an idea by Lance Percival. The idea evidently being "How's about something with a nice part for Percival?"

The relationship of management and men has the tension which gives comedy its twang but "Up the Workers" did not even remind you of the truth and friction of, say, "I'm All Right, Jack." I found it very average which is no reason, God knows, why it should not become a series and the audience, I must report, seemed as easily tickled as an armpit.
