Izzy Comyn, English teacher at an inner-London secondary school, has man problems: somewhat timid and essentially single, she's engaged in an affair with Michael, a married man. Hopeless, haplessly in love with him, Izzy constantly daydreams of their possible life together.
Meanwhile Dick, the school's pottery teacher, is quietly in love with her - but she views him, at best, with a friendly indifference.
Bumbling from one romantic entanglement to the next, will Izzy ever find true love?
