Further details

To celebrate Beth's birthday, son Ian and his boyfriend Gordon are taking her and Eric out for a pub meal. Christine has no qualms about gate-crashing the family outing.

At the pub, Ian suggests Beth choose the table, but Christine has her own ideas. Two courses for £7.95 leads to a lively discussion, with Beth, Christine and Eric finally deciding on the haddock.

The Birthday meal is disrupted by the arrival of a very drunk Colin. He lurches over to their table, dispensing kisses and insults in equal measure. Cathy is away at a spa and so Colin is delighted to see his pals. They're rather less keen to see him.

Sauce sachets, serenades, and a vain attempt to get Colin to sober up are next up on the menu.

Press

The gang leave home for a real-time episode focused entirely on Beth's birthday meal: nothing fancy, it's just a pub that does two courses for £7.95, but the gatecrashing of the event by Christine (insensitive) and Colin (hammered) ensures it's a gentle fiasco. Basic but reliably decent sitcom fare.
