Series 7, Episode 3 - How The Welsh Have Fun

Kiri Pritchard-McLean looks for more amusing clips in the BBC Wales TV archive to discover how hobbies, pastimes and all of the ways the Welsh have fun have been documented.

Further details

In this episode, Kiri is exploring all the ways in which the Welsh have let their hair down over the years to have some fun. In one clip from the start of the millennium, TV and radio presenter Roy Noble meets a roller coaster-fanatic who's going for ride number 2000 on Pembrokeshire's Megafobia in the year 2000. Roy is even persuaded to take a ride on the wooden coaster himself, albeit reluctantly.

The programme also revisits Anglesey's first disco, Dragon-Beat. Converted from an old cinema in Amlwch in the seventies, the popular nightspot attracted big names and provided all the latest discotheque sounds of the era.

Other fun-filled archive clips include a residential home's production of Cinderella, paragliding in Ruthin and a Splott street party for the Silver Jubilee.
