Series 3, Episode 4 - Law And Order

Tudur Owen searches for clues about crime in Wales. He uncovers a story of canine cops, police badgers and vigilante ferrets, full of lively characters from the nation's TV past.

Further details

Championship show dogs are highly valued and prime targets for thieves, but a news report details the new technique in which the pooches can always be positively identified - nose printing. An ink pad is applied to the nose, then the result is transferred to a card, as it's claimed that each nose-print is as unique as a human fingerprint.

In a different report from 1980, a major operation is underway in the city centre of Cardiff, with the aim of preventing clashes between rival gangs of mods and rockers. Clashes in previous weeks between the groups are thought to have been sparked by a screening of the film, Quadrophenia, which features confrontations between mods and rockers in the '60s.

Additional archive clips include a parish council in Dolwyddelan who have banned the use of the village swings on a Sunday, details of the first panda crossing in Ely and one man's crusade against littering in Colwyn Bay, as he places his own bins around the streets near his home.
