Series 1 (1979)

When her husband and local landowner dies, Audrey fforbes-Hamilton is left with an enormous country estate and equally large debts. She reluctantly agrees to sell the manor in order to pay off her late husband's creditors, and begins a new life at the opposite end of the drive...

Series 2 (1980)

As Richard settles into life at Grantleigh, Audrey finds plenty of lessons to teach, and plenty of battles to fight. From countryside conservancy to farm efficiency, change is afoot on the estate. Audrey'll be damned if anything goes on without her say-so!
