It's Jinsy Week!

Tonight sees the inaugural broadcast of This Is Jinsy on BBC Three. It's the pilot episode of a show quite unlike anything humanity has seen before, so remember to tune in at 9.30pm to experience it for yourself.

The pilot episode for a splintered sitcom influenced by Boosh, Python, 1984, Stanley Unwin, 1970s public information films and The Wicker Man. Jinsy's pompous governor wants to conquer the next island along, which means abandoning quotidian concerns such as hooch, unpleasant folk songs and metal shortages. Set in a carefully random world of made-up phrases and queasy colours, it's a "surreal" mash that could be hopelessly annoying, but is packed with imaginative detail and silly detours. Consequently, it's as infectiously funny as a badly stuffed owl. A full series, please.

Writers Justin Chubb and Chris Bran play Maven and Sporrall, the hapless administrators of Jinsy Island, in this whimsical surrealist sitcom pilot that should satisfy people mourning the lack of any new Boosh output.

From Guernsey to the surreal island of Jinsy

Jinsy is a small island made with a population of about 700 in a new sitcom on BBC Three written by and starring a pair of Guernseymen.

This Is Jinsy Review

Sometimes being constantly "random" can become predictable. If This Is Jinsy wants to become a cult favourite it needs to develop the leads into loveable characters. A promising start to what could well become your new favourite madcap comedy.

If you prefer your funny prescription with more BS (bizarre/surreal) injected, a la a Boosh, Python, Psychoville blendy-thingie, This Is Jinsy might be your medicine. If you're curious, or like curious things, BBC3 is the place to be on Monday 1st March at 9:30pm.
