TV review: The Young Offenders
The Young Offenders are certainly guilty - of being funny.
Stevie Gallacher, The Sunday Post, 28th July 2020The Young Offenders, which seems to have passed under many radars while the likes of Derry Girls soared and delighted, might finally make it big time. It deserves to. It's cheeky, irreverent, Cork-based, scandalous, sweary and sweaty: also, extremely funny. Slapstick moments, at which my heart does plunge. Yet many more moments of sharp lines at which it soars.
Euan Ferguson, The Guardian, 26th July 2020Review: The Young Offenders, BBC Three
If recent hit Normal People offered one slice of young Irish life, The Young Offenders offers a very different one.
Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke, 20th July 2020The Young Offenders, series 3 review
Much of the comedy comes from a naturalistic slapstick, and although the gags are often relatively unsophisticated, 'dumb but endearing' applies the show as much as does to its lead characters. Charm will out.
Steve Bennett, Chortle, 20th July 2020The Young Offenders review
Jock and Conor balance stealing TVs with nappy-changing, as the Irish comedy that's a million miles away from Normal People returns.
