Morgana Robinson interview
Morgana Robinson says it was really fun to play Pippa Middleton as a bitch...
Tell us about The Windsors...
The Windsors is a send up of the Royal Family with dramatic moments of pathos *wink wink*.
It's described as a comedy soap opera - what does that mean?
Oh that's perfect! It means it's a little bit exciting and you'll want to keep watching for the next one, there are twists and turns.
You play Pippa Middleton what's your version of her like? Did you do any research?
I sort of honed my Pippa skills through the medium of boarding school and I kind of channelled all the girls I went to school with and basically put them all into one character. There's only one interview with her I've seen and she's very nervous and she's so much lovelier and very sweet compared to my version of her. The only thing I made sure is that the makeup artist gave me a beauty spot. She's not really true to self- it's a character so I didn't feel any pressure to push the impression out as it's not an impression show.
And the scripts are quite freeing aren't they?
Oh yeah - how fun to play such a bitch! Oh it's so fun! The only thing is that you take that home with you a bit I went home with such a bad mood and it took me a while to shake it off, I had a few gin and tonics and then I was alright!
Pippa is a bit of a sex symbol, what's it like playing someone with a famous bottom?
What bottom?! Jesus Christ that's not an arse! I was like where is it?! I can't see it?! I have more of a JLo or a Beyoncé bottom! It was fun to play a sexy bitchy character but I like bigger bottoms than the real Pippas!
What's Pippa's relationship like with Prince Harry in the show?
Ah, he's such a simple character that his reactions are pretty knee-jerk and she can pull the wool over his eyes - with a flash of her bottom!
And what's it like working with Richard Goulding who plays him?
Oh Dicky! He's such a sweetheart! He's adorable! He is such a gent I miss him already. We had such fun but he's annoying because he always knows his lines and he never messes up. Whereas I've been looking at scripts all week getting my mum to test me, trying really hard and he's just like 'oh yeah I have had a look at it - yep I've got it!'.
What about the other Harry - Harry Enfield? What's it like working with him and the rest of the cast?
Oh it's such a joy - he keeps the morale going and keeps us laughing its lovely it's was so nice to see such talented people working together. I can't stress enough how talented and amazing everyone is. The performances are really special from everyone.
When you've got that many comedians thrown together on one set - what's the atmosphere like?
I've never felt a bad atmosphere with comedy - I can't tell you about what it's like on drama. I'm so blessed to be in comedy I love it and I'm so glad that it's a part of my life.
Have you ever met any of the Royals?
No I have not! I'd like to have a night out with the real Harry, that would be fun wouldn't it?!
What do you think they'd make of it?
Oh I think they're going to enjoy it, I'm sure they've got a sense of humour. It's not nasty, it's just cheeky.
If you could be any member of the Royal Family for the day what would you do?
I would be the Queen because I just want to eat cake and drink tea and order people around and go for little walks in my garden with my dogs! Lots of cake, it would be like living in Fortnum & Mason's with a big garden.
Is there anything else you've got coming up?
I've got my show for BBC Two coming up [Impressions Of Fame] that should be coming out in August and that'll include old favourites and newbies!
