The Vote was dull compared to the real election
For thrills, I would take that exit poll over Judi Dench and Jude Law any day.
Rachel Cooke, The New Statesman, 14th May 2015By now, it might be that you've simply had enough of politics. It would be understandable given the length of the election campaign. But if you can find room for one more political wafer-thin mint, this James Graham play starring Catherine Tate, Mark Gatiss and Nina Sosanya almost certainly deserves a look. First broadcast live from the Donmar Warehouse on election night and covering - both temporally and thematically - the last hour-and-a-half before polls closes, it's a neat idea but one that may end up getting slightly lost in the hubbub of the day. If you were too busy exercising your democratic right to sit down and watch a play about other people doing the same, here's another chance.
Phil Harrison, The Guardian, 12th May 2015The Vote at Donmar Warehouse, WC2
Is it theatre? Is it telly? Does it boast a preposterously talented cast of 44 that includes Judi Dench, Mark Gatiss and Catherine Tate? Is it any good? The answer to all those questions is a resounding yes, but still The Vote takes a bit of explaining.
Dominic Maxwell, The Times, 7th May 2015The Vote, review: art meets life in real-time drama
Judi Dench, Catherine Tate and Mark Gatiss star in a brilliantly apt play about the last 90 minutes of polling day.
Dominic Cavendish, The Telegraph, 7th May 2015The Vote is fabulously acted and depressingly accurate
Polling station play by the man behind Channel 4 political drama Coalition is "tremendous fun" and "hugely satisfying" says Tony Peters.
Tony Peters, Radio Times, 7th May 2015The Vote review: all-star election-night farce
Judi Dench, a wonderfully twitchy Mark Gatiss, Catherine Tate and other famous faces make appearances at the polling station in Graham's entertaining ballot-box drama.
