Fifty-year-old Basil Allenby-Johnson, nicknamed 'Badger' during his many years of rubber planting in Malaya, returns to live with his son, Ted, and daughter-in-law, Alicia, in 1970s London.
While in the Orient, the permissive society has by-passed Badger, rendering him shocked and bewildered on arrival back in the old country. The liberal and open-minded attitudes of his hosts are equally baffling.
In the second series he links up with his brother, Stanley, but wherever he goes, Badger is a complete misfit.
