Two lady tramps spend their time wandering around London and, in their own heads, putting the world to rights. They are not drunks nor pathetic souls, just two people who hate authority in all its forms. Old Pat is the thinker, the battler and the talker - Lanky Pat is her shadow and sounding board.

Together they take up residence in a rusty old van, propped up on bricks in a derelict London yard. But this is a step forward from the chilly park benches they have been used to, so things are on the up. To earn a few bob, they put on an act for queues at bus stops, but they maintain their dignity by always fighting their corner.

Davey is their younger friend and he, plus the assorted other tramps who cross the old ladies' realm, provide much of the inspiration for their scheming fun and games.
