The Irish R.M. - The Complete Collection
The Irish R.M. - set in the 1880s, filmed in the 1980s, is now freshly available in a newly packaged boxed set. All three series in the popular Channel 4 trilogy are based on the classic books by the Anglo-Irish team of Edith Somerville and Violet Martin (aka Martin Ross): Some Experiences of an Irish R.M.; Further Experiences of an Irish R.M.; and In Mr. Knox's Country.
Peter Bowles stars in this light-hearted, comic drama series as Major Sinclair Yeates, a retired English army office who becomes a resident magistrate in turn-of-the-20th century Western Ireland.
Living in a ramshackle country house surrounded by the community's eccentric inhabitants, Major Yeates struggles to apply judicial logic in a land where "the inevitable never happens, but the improbable frequently does".
Shot entirely on location in County Kildare and capturing the rich beauty of the lush Irish countryside, this complete collection also stars Beryl Reid, Bryan Murray, Niall Toibin and Sarah Badel.
