Key details
Comedy pilot for E4 written by Caitlin Moran, the award-winning Times columnist, and her sister.
Channel 4 boss Shane Allen said: "It's the teenage experience from a very female point of view."
The Big Object is sitcom about an overweight 16-year-old looking for a boyfriend. It focuses on the lives of three characters: two sisters and a mother.
Channel 4 boss Shane Allen told The Guardian that the show's title "was chosen to be deliberately ambiguous", and is a reference to the main character's hunt for a boyfriend, but also to her size.
As of 2013 the status of this project is not known. Allen has departed Channel 4 for the BBC, and E4 has screened and re-ordered My Mad Fat Diary, a programme with a similar premise.
