The Change

The strike is over and there's a sense of new beginnings for everyone...

The Verderer is alive, red faced and furious, tied to a tree.

Joy announces that he has faced a vote of no confidence from the men and the women have won. Linda passes the Mother Tree stump and spots a shoot. This is huge for her. She returns to the Eel Café to tell the sisters her plan to hold a celebration of the cycle of life.

Linda, the Eel Sisters, Joy, Pig Man, Ryan, and a reluctant Verderer meet at the Mother Tree which is decorated with beautiful, foraged items. Linda makes an impassioned speech about how we all have the power to make change, just like the fungal networks. And to live well, we have to accept death.

We pan out to see circles of twigs and moss, then the circle of people around the stump. Then we see a stone circle around the tree. It has been a significant spot for hundreds of years... Things are changing. The sisters are handing the Eel Café over to Linda for a while. But the peace is broken by the trundle of wheels on the path. An out of breath Steve with the kids and luggage in tow. 'What. The. F**K?!'
