Granville has a large consignment of tinned beans to shift and he enlists the help of Mr Machin, a local customer who is convinced he is being regularly abducted by friendly aliens, to increase sales. Granville's plans are nearly thwarted when Mr. Machin gets cold feet about telling his tales of space adventure, but where there's a will there's a way and our canny grocer persuades Gastric to help him.

A new customer, Mrs. Rossi, is in a fragile state having been left by her husband. Is there anything in the shop that can lift her spirits? Granville suggests a couple of tins of beans...

Meanwhile, Leroy meets Beth for a date, but finds three's a crowd when she brings along her best friend Ruby.
