Shooting Stars trivia

The thigh rubbing idea came from a demo tape of a Christmas song that Vic Reeves listened to. He could hear the singer rubbing his thighs on the tape.

The 'Dove From Above' round was inspired by someone cooing on Radio Leicester.

"Eranu" and "Uvavu" do not mean anything. They were invented by Vic and Bob during a period when they were interested in myths, and they thought the words sounded mystical.

One of the final challenges demanded that Ulrika Jonsson down a pint of beer, in one go, in 30 seconds. However, a trick glass was used and Jonsson only actually drank a third of a pint.

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer often had trouble recording the show because they never knew which camera to look at. A system was invented in which a hat was put on one camera and a shoe on another.

One series of Shooting Stars was scheduled to start on the same day as a new series of the hit American sitcom Friends started on Channel 4. This resulted in Shooting Stars worrying about low viewing figures. Luckily, the shows were scheduled at seperate times by the networks and so did not clash.

Sometimes when Johnny Vegas was on one of his rants, Ulrika Jonnson would go to the toilet. When she returned, Vegas would still be going on.

The title for the show comes from a Bad Company album that Vic and Bob were listening to when they were writing the show.
