The fearsome pincers of the Department of Work and Pensions have finally closed upon Frank (David Threlfall). His assorted maladies have been cruelly dismissed, his ingenious tactic of being deliberately sacked outwitted. Shockingly, once he plunges into the world of work, it turns out that he's a natural: fluent, witty, adored by his colleagues. So much so that his new boss, Wesley, is becoming rather peeved. Meanwhile, Karen is conducting a dubious flirtation with alternative parenting.

Jane Shilling, The Telegraph, 12th September 2012

Ten series into Channel 4's council estate drama and the unthinkable has happened - the unemployable perennial scrounger Frank Gallagher has been forced to get a job in a grimy burger restaurant. Tonight's premiere is more a continuation of series nine which was cut short due to scheduling (something we'd expect from the comparatively tame American remake) and it's the same, cringe-inducing affair, improved by a hilarious turn from John Bradley - better known as Game Of Thrones' hapless Samwell Tarly - as Gallagher's bitter new boss. Elsewhere, Shane and Jackson have taken to brewing bootleg booze - which is frankly less Shameless, more Lawless.

Oliver Franklin, GQ, 12th September 2012

In the 10th series of the Manchester-set comedy-drama, Frank has fallen foul of guidelines, meaning he is no longer deemed unfit to work. He must get a job. Cue hefty use of dream sequence as a distraction from the endless repetition. The sight of David Threlfall capering about in a Jesus wig spouting Paul Abbot's finest lines used to be invigorating, but now it feels like a joyless court jester hitting you on the head with a bladder over and over again. Episode two is tomorrow if you can be bothered.

Julia Raeside, The Guardian, 11th September 2012

Crack open a cold one because The Gallaghers are back for Shameless's tenth series this week, and in one of the most shocking plot developments in TV history Frank (David Threlfall) has only gone and found himself a job!

Unsurprisingly, the nation's favourite lout isn't overly enthused with serving up fast food after ten years out of the workforce and becomes plagued with horrifying nightmares. Will he still be flipping burgers when episode two airs on Thursday? Elsewhere in the premiere, Shane (Nicky Evans) and Jackson (Emmanuel Ighodaro) run into issues with their bootlegging business and Patty (Valerie Lilley) does a spot of pill swiping.

Imogen Thomas lands acting role in C4's Shameless

Reality TV star Imogen Thomas has landed her first acting role in Channel 4's popular comedy-drama Shameless.

Metro, 2nd April 2012

Shameless is off for its customary mid-series hiatus, but first there's the small matter of a tense two-parter to be resolved. Last week's ill-considered raid on a national lottery depot has left five of Chatsworth's finest trapped underground without food, water, or - crucially, in Frank's case - alcohol. Back up above, Gloria finally reveals the group's plan to Dominic, prompting a frantic search and rescue operation. It's not a classic by any means but it'll certainly suffice.
