The problem with holiday romances is that the course of love doesn't always run smooth once the holiday is over - as Greg and Lucy find out. The couple meet up on the last day of a trip to Greece and decide to carry on seeing each other when they return to Britain. Unfortunately, Greg is a policeman in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Lucy is a student in London. Between them lie 300 miles of railway track and motorway.
Nevertheless they persevere, through train delays, car breakdowns, calls of duty and other hiccups that shatter the precious little time they have together, and through the interference of friends and family (not least Greg's younger sister, Fiona, who on one occasion ruins a weekend by staging an embarrassing family party). Then comes the crunch: do they move in together, and if so where - up north or down south? And whose job / course will have to give way?
