Further details
The Dwarfers are fed up of Holly. For a computer with a supposed IQ of 6,000 he doesn't seem to be very intelligent. Nearly killing Lister by instructing him to incorrectly connect two high-voltage cables is the last straw.
So it seems as if their luck has turned when Holly's emergency back-up replacement, Queeg 500, takes over the running of the ship instead. However, they soon change their minds when he makes the Cat and Lister work for their food and Rimmer get up at 6:00am each morning!
After a few days' relaxation, Holly challenges Queeg to a high stakes battle: the winner takes the ship, the loser is erased. Despite the trio's earnest pleading, the battle ensues. Needless to say, it's only a matter of time before Holly loses.
As the team begin to digest their bleak, hard future with Queeg, Holly reappears on screen - and admits that it was a prank; Queeg was him in disguise all along. The moral, he explains, is: "Appreciate what you've got, because basically, I'm fantastic."
