Lister is finding it very difficult to get used to life with only one arm and Kryten's attempt to provide a acceptable artificial substitute fails, they decide Lister's only hope is if they can find some nanobots. The crew take Starbug back to the planet where they found the 'Esperanto' (see episode: 'Back To Reality'). They find some nanobots on board the ship and Kryten gets the tiny robots to build a new arm for Lister.
