In Series 6, crisis hits the Nesbitt household when Rab's benefit is suspended. But there is worse news to come when Rab becomes seriously ill and for once drink isn't responsible.

In Series 7, it's a new dawn for the Nesbitts after the General Election and Rab and Mary are facing an empty nest with Gash moving out. But why does the prospect of a new government and a new daughter-in-law leave Rab feeling old?

In Series 8, Rab has just been released from jail and is washing dishes with thoughts of revenge against Jamesie stewing. But with the Nesbitts first grandchild on the way Rab contemplates his new status as a grandfather and attempts to make amends with Mary.
