Rowan Darby, Suite 101, 5th February 2011Peep Show 7.5 & 7.6 review
The belated arrival of Peep Show in 2010 gave the show a rare opportunity to include two timely episodes, as the final weeks revolved around two big events in the calendar: Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. The former was perhaps the highlight of the series. The finale was a fun episode, let-down by the fact it capped the series in a rather mechanical, unimaginative way.
Dan Owen, Dan's Media Digest, 4th January 2011It looks like this could be the end for flat-sharers Mark and Jeremy when Jez announces on New Year's Eve that he's moving out. Mark (David Mitchell) is surprisingly philosophical, as his mate's absence means he can at last finish his great work, "The Business Secrets of the Pharaohs". It's the last episode in the series, and it's packed with tiny treasures, including Jez's (Robert Webb) demand that Mark should party: "Shake your booty, tonight even Paxman's out!"
Alison Graham, Radio Times, 29th December 2010Crack open the Pringles and settle back for a few hours of brilliantly scripted comedy as David Mitchell and Robert Webb take over C4 tonight. Behind-the-scenes documentary Peep Show And Tell kicks things off, followed by the penultimate episode of the current seventh series (in which Mark invites his parents over for Christmas lunch). Then there's a re-airing of two priceless episodes as picked by the viewing public: the one in which Mark marries Sophie and the one where Mark's gastric flu threatens to ruin Jez's magic mushroom party.
Metro, 24th December 2010A three-hour festive extravaganza for Channel 4's favourite sitcom starring socially inept flatmates Mark (David Mitchell) and Jeremy (Telegraph columnist Robert Webb). The evening kicks off with Peep Show & Tell, which explores the comedy's cult appeal through the eyes of cast members, writers and fans. That's followed by the penultimate episode of the current series (at 10.05pm) in which Mark invites his parents for lunch on Christmas Day. Following suit are two classic episodes chosen by Mitchell and Webb - Wedding from series four (10.40pm), and Shrooming from series three (11.15pm). Nice.
The Telegraph, 23rd December 2010It's now, bizarrely, the longest-running C4 sitcom since Desmond's, which means Peep Show is old enough to get a tribute night. Though Mark would no doubt prefer some Stalingrad repeats on The History Channel. First up is a documentary interviewing the cast, crew and fans followed by a new Christmas episode in which Mark buys Dobby a pair of tongs as a Christmas pressie. And it gets worse from there.
Will Dean, The Guardian, 20th December 2010After last week's Christmas Day fiasco, Mark is still in Dobby's bad books, which leads to a trawl round various supporting characters' New Year parties to find her. First they head to Johnson's fancy dress bash, before popping round to Super Hans's gaff, where a party has broken out that's so dark even Hans himself can't handle it. Then it's Big Suze's posh do, where the boys are asked to serve the hors d'oeuvres before they make it to Gerrard's "Larp" party. All the while, Jez is deciding whether to move in with the newly single Zahra. Is this the end of Jez and Mark? Don't bet on it.
