Nurse - Photo Gallery
Paul Whitehouse is bringing a host of new characters to television soon in BBC Two's Nurse. Listeners to his Radio 4 series, which had the same title, might recognise some of these names, but this is the first time we've seen them in a visual medium...
Nurse centres around Elizabeth (played by Esther Coles).
She travels around to meet various patients, most of which are played by Whitehouse.
One of the characters that Whitehouse plays is Herbert, he's described as 'an elderly rake'.
Elizabeth is troubled by the relationship between Graham (Whitehouse) and his mother (Rosie Cavaliero), because Graham's daily diet of doughnuts and junk food is way out-of-control now.
Billy feels safer in jail than outside, a state of affairs the nurse is trying to rectify.
Simon Day fans will no doubt have spotted him in this photo, playing his gangster character Tony Beckton.
Lorrie (Cecelia Noble) is regularly visited by her over-friendly (some would say nosey) neighbour Maurice.
Ray, a rock and roll survivor from the Sixties, is bipolar.
Jack (Jason Maza) is a troubled young former soldier.
His parents are Sheila (Sue Elliot Nichols) and David (Whitehouse).
Ted and Bernie (Jo Enright) are another pair of characters in the show.
Phyllis (Vilma Hollingbery), in her seventies, has Alzheimer's. She is sweet, charming and exasperating.
Her son Gary does his best, but struggling.
Rosie Cavaliero also appears in Nurse as 'cat lady' April.
'Nurse' starts on BBC Two on Tuesday 10th March at 10pm.
