Michael McIntyre's Big Show to return for two more series

- Michael McIntyre's Big Show has received a double commission. Series 9 will be filmed in July, with Series 10 to follow later
- The comedian's game show, The Wheel, will return for two more series
- McIntyre says: "This will take the Big Show up to its 10th series, which is an amazing achievement for everyone involved"
BBC One has confirmed it has ordered two further series of Michael McIntyre's Big Show.
It follows on from the news that Series 8, which was broadcast from January, achieved an average audience of 5.9 million viewers. The BBC notes the show is "one of the biggest shows on Saturday Nights across the board", and that "1.4m of those viewers were tuning in to each episode on demand (a quarter of the show's total audience), making this series the brand's biggest series on iPlayer yet."
The BBC says: "In this two-series deal Michael McIntyre's Big Show will achieve the landmark milestone of 10 series. Filmed in front of a live theatre audience Michael McIntyre's Big Show is packed with superstar guests, incredible musical performances and much loved features including 'Unexpected Star', 'Send to All' and 'Remember Me'."
The BBC has also confirmed the comedian's game show, The Wheel, will return for two more series too.
Production on the sixth series of The Wheel has just begun, with Michael McIntyre's Big Show going into production on Series 9 in July.

Michael McIntyre says: "I'm so proud of the success of both The Big Show and The Wheel. This will take the Big Show up to its 10th series, which is an amazing achievement for everyone involved. The Wheel was a show we made in lockdown while we couldn't film the Big Show, but it's become equally beloved. Someone came up to me recently while I was walking the dog and said they 'loved The Big Wheel', I have no idea whether they meant The Big Show, The Wheel or both shows, they may have just come from The London Eye".
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, says: "We're committed to bringing our audiences unmissable Saturday Night entertainment that brings everyone together in front of the TV. With plenty of fantastic brand-new episodes of The Wheel and Michael McIntyre's Big Show coming to BBC One and iPlayer - there can be no doubt that Michael has well and truly cemented his position as Mr Saturday Night on the BBC!"
Dan Baldwin, CEO of producers Hungry Bear, adds: "Both The Big Show and The Wheel seem to be getting better with every series. They have become firm favourites with the nation on a Saturday night. With Michael at the helm, they're hilarious, packed with entertainment and both deliver unforgettable moments of emotion - exactly what Saturday night entertainment should do."
