Boarders Series 3 is being written

- The second series of the BBC Three comedy drama about underprivileged black students who win scholarships to an elite boarding school is currently airing
- Lawrence has said he is "already writing" Series 3, backed by "a team full of writers already scribbling away"
Work on a third series of Boarders is underway, creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor has revealed.
The BBC Three comedy drama, about five underprivileged black students who win scholarships to an elite boarding school, is yet to be officially confirmed beyond Series 2, which began this week and continues on Monday.
But Taylor, who also co-stars, has already convened a writing room developing further episodes.
"I'm already writing it and I've got a team full of writers already scribbling away" he told presenters Gaby Roslin and Rav Wilding on BBC daytime show Morning Live.
"So fingers crossed, we just really need people to watch it and support it, then hopefully it will be a thing."
Starring Josh Tedeku as Jaheim, Jodie Campbell as Leah, Myles Kamwendo as Omar, Sekou Diaby as Toby, Aruna Jalloh as Femi and Taylor as Gus, the comedy, made by Studio Lambert (Common Sense), has added Natalie Cassidy and Alan Cumming to the cast in guest cameos, after both actors shared their appreciation of the first series.
"I was so, so fortunate" Taylor told Roslin and Wilding, after Cassidy - who plays a teacher at a rival school in the series - messaged him on Instagram, "telling me how much she loved the show. She was like, 'oh, I love it and we should get to work together'.
"So I took that as contractually binding. I asked the director to send a message and she was well up for it, so I was really, really glad that she came to do it.

"And the same for Alan, he was a big fan of the show and so we went about writing him a part. He loved it and he got involved, [playing the host of a party that the St Gilbert's students find themselves at]."
Prompted by Wilder, Taylor shared his dream guest actors for future episodes.
"I'd love Idris [Elba]] or Daniel Kaluuya," he reflected. "Or if we're going really high, I want to get Denzel [Washington]/p] involved!"
Reviews for Boarders have generally been positive, with the Guardian describing the second series as "brimming with warmth, wisdom and a sense of barely concealed anarchy that often recalls some of the finest British teen comedies, from The Inbetweeners to Skins".
The Radio Times has called it "light, fun and a fresh addition to an often monotonous TV schedule that could do with some shake-ups."
Series 2 continues on Monday 10th February at 9pm on BBC Three.
