Channel 4 commissions Sam Campbell's Make That Movie
- Channel 4 has commissioned a new series about a film crew shooting around Britain
- Award-winner Sam Campbell created the show and leads the cast
- It sees a small team trying to make a movie in just three days
Make That Movie, a new scripted comedy series from Australian comic Sam Campbell, has been commissioned by Channel 4.
Six episodes have been ordered from Don't Hug Me I'm Scared producers Blink Industries, with filming to begin shortly, following a successful pilot episode.
The series was created by 2022 Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Sam Campbell, who will lead the cast as a "hotshot film director", who scours the country for everyday people who have an idea for a feature film. Sam and his team then race against the clock as they attempt to transform the idea into a film in just three days.
Starring as Sam's elite crew of filmmakers are: Lara Ricote (2022 Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer) as runner Jess, Aaron Chen as intimacy coordinator Sebastian, Helen Bauer (Am I Being Unreasonable?) as sound engineer Pat, and David Hargreaves (This Country) as cinematographer Winnie.
Sam Campbell says: "It's a bit like one of those shows where they fix up someone's garden. But this is about something people genuinely care about - movie magic. Let's be honest with ourselves, a garden has never grossed over a billion dollars at the box office..."
Charlie Perkins, Head of Comedy at Channel 4, says: "Sam epitomises the colour, creativity and innovation that Channel 4 comedy stands for. He has an undeniable, completely unique and enormous comedy brain and is generous and tenacious in his artistry - the perfect figurehead for this new-era comedy gang-show. This is going to be fun."
