Channel 4 will broadcast the award-winning Is It A Bird?, by Jordan Gray.
The transgender comic's first hour-long comedy show, it garnered critical acclaim upon its debut at the 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as well as multiple awards and a ream of accolades for writer and star Gray.
The success of the show culminated with Gray stripping totally naked during a performance on the one-off revival of legendary comic variety series Friday Night Live, which aired later that year. It initiated a reported 1,500 complaints to television regulator Ofcom.
Jordan joked today: "This silly little show has changed my life forever. The fact that it's going on TV makes me so excited, I could cut the glass ceiling with my nipples right now."
Produced by Soho Studios and Bill And Ben Productions, the show - a mix of musical comedy and stand-up - is likely to air later in 2024.
Executive producer Ian Lamarra says: "Jordan's debut Is It A Bird? opened as the funniest and most important show in Edinburgh that year - it is vital that it's now captured on film. Channel 4 feels like the perfect home for this special in the UK and we are looking forward to taking it out to the international market. Soho Studios was created to work with the very best talent and Jordan Gray is certainly that."
Co-producer and co-director, Ben Timlett of Bill And Ben adds: "Jordan Gray is simply sensational, and we are truly honoured to work with her and Soho Studios to bring the stunning Is It A Bird? show to TV audiences in the UK and worldwide. We also look forward to re-upsetting those 1,500 Ofcom complainers and really getting to know the C4 legal team."
