G'wed recommissioned for two series
- Filming on Series 2 of ITV's school-based sitcom G'wed begins soon
- It's now been confirmed the network has already ordered a third series of the format
- The producers say: "It's great that we'll get the chance to spend even more time exploring the joyful complicated lives of our Scouse characters"
ITV's hit new comedy G'wed has been given a third series, before the second has even aired.
As previously reported in May, the comedy had been renewed due to great ratings. The show - which follows a group of teenagers attending a school in Liverpool - is ITV2's most watched programme of the year (after Love Island) and the biggest sitcom launch on the ITV network since Kate & Koji in 2020.
It's now been confirmed, with the first series now having been streamed over 6 million times, the network has ordered a further series.
Executive producer Mario Stylianides says: "There was so much love for G'wed from audiences far and wide. It's great that we'll get the chance to spend even more time exploring the joyful complicated lives of our Scouse characters."
ITV's head of comedy Nana Hughes says: "Danny Kenny's writing had us crying with laughter one second, crying real tears the next and then back to laughter. And the hugely talented cast brought so much charm and cheek to the show."
Filming on Series 2, which is again written by Danny Kenny, will start in Liverpool soon with leads Dylan Thomas-Smith and Jake Kenny-Byrne amongst those returning.
