Jack Rooke has won in the 'Writer: Comedy' category at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards 2024.

Previously a BAFTA Breakthrough recipient in 2022, Rooke picked up the comedy writing trophy for his work on his Channel 4 sitcom Big Boys.

Also nominated in the category were Jamie Demetriou (for A Whole Lifetime With Jamie Demetriou), Kat Sadler (for Such Brave Girls) and Mawaan Rizwan (for Juice).

Here is a video of his acceptance speech:

Kat Sadler was recognised for her writing on Such Brave Girls at the ceremony, winning in 'Emerging Talent: Fiction', the category which aims to "shine a spotlight on the very best emerging talent in the industry".

On accepting the prize, she said "this is so surreal". She added: "I lost my best friend last year to suicide, and this is for her, because she always said I was funniest when I was saddest. So this is to you Joanne."

The results were announced at a ceremony hosted by Stacey Dooley at The Brewery London. Other winners on the night included Charlie Brooker and Bisha K Ali for the Black Mirror episode Demon 79; Three Little Birds casting director Aisha Bywaters; and the Eurovision production team.
