Gavin & Stacey 2024 Christmas special confirmed
James Corden and Ruth Jones are reportedly working on a new Gavin & Stacey special. Filming this summer, it will air on BBC One at Christmas.
TV trade publication Deadline says: "We are told the series is in development/pre-production and cameras will roll in a few months time on the show, which is produced by Steve Coogan's Baby Cow, Jones' Tidy Productions and Fulwell 73, which is co-owned by Corden."
The sitcom, which launched in 2007, returned on Christmas Day in 2019, almost a decade on from its third series. The special was a ratings hit, watched by over 18 million viewers.
The 2019 special - in which writers Corden and Jones appeared alongside Mathew Horne, Joanna Page, Alison Steadman, Larry Lamb, Melanie Walters and Rob Brydon - ended on a cliffhanger involving the relationship between Nessa (Jones) and Smithy (Corden).
The main cast are expected to return for the new episode, however at the time of writing, it should be noted neither the BBC or creators have officially announced any plans for the comedy's return.
