Comedy quiz Romesh Ranganathan's Parent's Evening coming to ITV
Romesh Ranganathan and his mother Shanthi are reuniting on screen for a primetime ITV comedy quiz pilot.
In Romesh & Shanthi's Parental Guidance, which is being made by the comic's production company Ranga Bee, contestants' fortunes "lie in the hands of those supposed to know them best ... their parents".
But it won't just be their general knowledge being scrutinised, as Shanthi will also be keeping a watchful eye on them while putting her son in his place.
Non-broadcast runthroughs of the show took place in London in September. And the show is recording on 1st March at Versa London Studios, with would-be participants invited to apply via SRO Audiences.
Shanti has appeared with Romesh in five series of their BBC Two topical comedy show The Ranganation, the travelogue Asian Provocateur and last year piloted a chatshow together for the broadcaster. She has also appeared with her son on A League Of Their Own, Judge Romesh, QI, Alan Carr: Chatty Man and his US-set documentary Just Another Immigrant.
The comic, who has three sons and already hosts The Weakest Link quiz for the BBC, has previously piloted a sitcom called Parental Guidance for Radio 2 and developed an unrealised adaptation of it for BBC One, in which he was to star alongside Amanda Abbington and Guz Khan.
Further potentially confusing matters, his fellow comic and Romantic Getaway co-star Katherine Ryan launched her parenting documentary series Parental Guidance on the W channel last night.
Ranganathan begins his Hustle stand-up tour with two nights at De Montfort Hall in Leicester from 7th February.
