Catherine Tate's Queen Of Oz will not return
- Queen Of Oz, the sitcom starring Catherine Tate, has reportedly been cancelled after its first series
Catherine Tate's sitcom Queen Of Oz has reportedly been cancelled by the BBC after one series.
TV Zone reports that the comedy has been axed the BBC and that the corporation declined to comment on the decision when approached.
Launched in June, the six-part comedy series followed Princess Georgiana, the "spare to the British throne". With her party girl lifestyle and constant public scandals threatening the monarchy's future, she is moved to Australia to become their Queen, along with her new staff - director of communications Zoe (Jenna Owen), private secretary Bernard (Robert Coleby), head of security Marc (Rob Collins), personal assistant Matthew (William McKenna), lady in waiting Anabel (Niky Wardley), and master of the household, Weiwei (Anthony Brandon Wong).
The comedy was met with mainly negative press reviews when it launched, and the overnight ratings figures dropped from 1.7 million viewers to under 1 million across its six-part run.
Written by Jeff Gutheim and Tate, the comedy was filmed in Australia by production company Lingo Pictures. Speaking in interview before the series launched, Tate said "I always think it can look a bit odd when you are clearly not where you are supposed to be, so there was never a question that it wasn't all going to be [filmed] there."
All six episode of Queen Of Oz are still available to watch via BBC iPlayer
