Hypothetical cancelled after four series
- Josh Widdicombe and James Acaster's Dave format Hypothetical has been cancelled after four series
- The network says: "We look forward to finding new opportunities to work with the team in the future"
- Fern Brady, Darren Harriott and Ivo Graham's travel format British As Folk has also ended
Dave panel show Hypothetical has come to an end after four series.
The format, in which Josh Widdicombe and James Acaster asked comedians what they would do in hypothetical scenarios, launched in 2019. Continuing to film the next series through coronavirus, it ran for a total of 32 episodes across four series, with the most recent run being on air in May to July 2022.
A UKTV spokesperson confirmed the news to TV Zone, saying: "We are proud to have brought four series of Hypothetical to Dave but can confirm it is not returning for another series. It was hugely enjoyable working with James and Josh, and the team at Hat Trick to bring this panel show to life for the last few years...
"Hypothetical provided us with an opportunity to work with the biggest names in comedy, offer a platform for up and coming talent and create a hit podcast spinoff and we look forward to finding new opportunities to work with the team in the future."
British Comedy Guide understands that British As Folk, the Dave series in which Fern Brady, Darren Harriott and Ivo Graham travelled around the UK interrogating stereotypes and traditions, has not been renewed for another series either.
