Romesh Ranganthan's Avoidance gets second series
- BBC One has commissioned six more episodes of family-sitcom Avoidance
- Romesh Ranganathan and Jessica Knappett will return as the separated parents trying to juggle their lives
- "Series 2 is about falling in love, messy reconciliation and a baby"
Avoidance, the sitcom starring Romesh Ranganathan and Jessica Knappett, has been recommissioned.
BBC One has ordered six new episodes of the comedy, co-starring Kieran Logendra, Mandeep Dhillon and Lisa McGrillis.
The "warm and bittersweet" series "about living your life avoiding conflict, avoiding making decisions and avoiding the mess that causes" focuses on Ranganathan and Knappett's characters as they split and juggle parenting their son.
Producers CPL and Ranga Bee say: "If Series 1 was about a break-up and rebuilding a broken home, Series 2 is about falling in love, messy reconciliation and a baby."
Series 1 saw Ranganathan's Jonathan moving into his sister Danielle's home, much to the annoyance of her partner Courtney.
Creators Romesh Ranganathan and Benjamin Green say: "We are absolutely delighted to bring back the dysfunctional Nadar family and get our incredible cast back together. We feel we should warn fans of the show that unfortunately Romesh will be wearing a lot of Lycra in Series 2. Sorry."
The commission was announced by BBC comedy commissioner Jon Petrie at the BBC Comedy Festival in Cardiff, where the BBC called comedy "a public service and needed now more than ever". A total of 10 commissions were announced. Full list of new shows
