The Windsors is returning for a fourth series, as well as a special episode to mark King Charles's Coronation.
Haydn Gwynne, who plays Camilla in the Royal Family comedy, told Radio 4's Saturday Live that Channel 4 has "commissioned another series, which we will be shooting later this year. But also, we're going to be very soon doing a Coronation special".
Gwynne said that she thought the death of co-writer George Jeffrie in 2020 might have signalled the end of the series. However, she added that co-creator Bert Tyler-Moore "has managed to pick up the baton, and we're doing it again".
The Windsors, which stars Harry Enfield as the new King and also features Hugh Skinner, Louise Ford, Morgana Robinson, Vicki Pepperdine, Celeste Dring, Ellie White and Katy Wix among others, ran for three series on Channel 4 between 2016 and 2020, spawning a stage show - albeit with changes of cast - in 2021.
Gwynne also reflected that she had intended to make her portrayal of a scheming Camilla a broad caricature. She joked that Prince Harry might have taken it too literally, given his damning portrayal of his mother-in-law in his memoir, Spare.
"I'm beginning to worry if Prince Harry has been watching too much of The Windsors along with everything else he's been watching because I thought my Camilla had nothing to do with the real Camilla," she told Saturday Live hosts Nikki Bedi and Richard Coles.
The King's Coronation is due to take place in Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May.
