A Whole Lifetime With Jamie Demetriou. Jamie Demetriou

Jamie Demetriou has become the first UK comedian to land a Netflix sketch special, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.

The Stath Lets Flats star has written and stars in A Whole Lifetime With Jamie Demetriou, which "takes the audience on a journey from birth to death through the ever adored medium of song and sketch - unpacking the most crucial, embarrassing, heartening and ultimately futile stages of a life lived in the anxious modern day".

Among those joining the quadruple BAFTA-winner in the hour-long special, as he articulates each stage of life through a different character, are his regular collaborators and Stath co-stars Ellie White, Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Katy Wix, as well as Sian Clifford, with whom he appeared in Fleabag, Emma Sidi, Jon Pointing, Lloyd Griffith, Phoebe Walsh and Emily Lloyd Saini.

Directed by Stath's Andrew Gaynord and produced by Olly Cambridge (Ellie & Natasia, This Way Up) for BBC Studios (Ladhood, Mandy) and Simon Bird and Jonny Sweet's production company Guilty Party Pictures (How Europe Stole My Mum, Jamie Demetriou's Horror: Oh God), of his Netflix debut, Demetriou reflected: "I'm in it quite a lot, hope that's ok!".

Bird and Sweet added: "It's been a privilege to see Jamie assemble these disparate, disastrous, often relatively thick characters into one beautiful sweep of life as he sees it. It's as original, daring, and hilarious as we have come to expect from (to be fair) the comic voice of his generation."

Demetriou also executive produces the special, alongside Bird, Sweet, Gaynord and BBC Studios head of comedy, Josh Cole, who told BCG: "Jamie is an exceptional creator and performer. It's a testament to his talent that in just one hour he will take us on an excruciating, hilarious, brilliantly observed journey through modern life".

A release date for A Whole Lifetime has yet to be set.

Recently seen in Dave's hybrid stand-up, sketch, sitcom series Live At The Moth Club, Demetriou won his four BAFTAs for Stath and recently filmed the Barbie movie, out this summer and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, with footage from the set showing him roller-skating with Will Ferrell.
