Jon Richardson has shot a Channel 4 travelogue with Lucy Beaumont's mother, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.

In a twist on the comedian-travelling-with-a-parent genre, Jon Richardson: Take My Mother-In-Law follows the stand-up and playwright Gill Adams as they travel around Spain, experiencing the local culture as she contemplates uprooting her life from England.

Filmed earlier this year in locations including Andalusia and Alicante, BCG understands that a 60-minute pilot is currently set to air in the autumn.

Take My Mother-In-Law is made by King Of Sunshine Productions, who also make Channel 4's forthcoming panel show Jon And Lucy's Perfect Couples and Meet The Richardsons on Dave, recently recommissioned for a fourth and fifth series.

Sohail Shah, Managing Director of King Of Sunshine Productions, said: "When Jon Richardson married Lucy Beaumont, he married her whole family too. Jon's relationship with his mother-in-law, Gill, is indescribable, so perhaps just seeing what happens when they spend time together in Spain will tell you everything you need to know about the family dynamic. The show has sun, sangria and a son-in-law in search of happiness for his mother-in-law. And himself."

The third run of the mockumentary, in which the comedian couple depict a fictionalised account of their lives, aired in March and April and built up to the wedding of Adams - who appears in the series as herself - and Johnny Vegas.

In another case of art imitating life, Meet The Richardsons is currently airing a two-part holiday special in which Richardson and Beaumont shoot a travelogue narrated by Still Open All Hours's Sally Lindsay, around Whitby and Blackpool. The second part airs on Dave this Thursday night.

The couple also appear on Channel 4's Celebrity Gogglebox, with Beaumont suggesting in an episode broadcast earlier this month that Richardson watching the film Titanic six times was potential grounds for divorce, and will play together this Friday evening in the opening episode of the twenty-second series of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

A Channel 4 spokesperson declined to comment on Take My Mother-In-Law, leaving open the possibility that it might yet crossover with a Meet The Richardsons storyline, as Jon And Lucy's Perfect Couples has.
