Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable is returning for a third series on Dave, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.

Lou Sanders is also returning as Giedroyc's assistant on the panel show-chat show hybrid, which features comedians and celebrities competing to convince Giedroyc that they are the most sinful, unforgivable person in the room.

Eight more hour-long episodes have been ordered, though guests have yet to be revealed.

Mel Giedroyc said: "I can't believe we get to misbehave for another series of Unforgivable on Dave, and that we have guests agreeing to come on. It's become the go to place for confessions and I love it."

Sanders added: "Very happy to report to my cutie for extra duties. Yes. Delighted to be back in my baby's arms to celebrate the disgusting crimes of the nation."

The second series premiered on Tuesday nights at 10pm in February and ranked Dave as the number one non-terrestrial channel in the time slot. To date, all episodes of the show have seen over 720,000 streams on UKTV Play too.

Confessions aired on the show include Jo Brand revealing how she beat a drink-driving charge, Sara Pascoe on how she lied about having cancer to get out of work and Jimmy Carr admitting to burning the shape of a giant penis into his school playing field.

Other guests to have appeared include Sarah Millican, Graham Norton, Jennifer Saunders, Katherine Ryan, Johnny Vegas, Jack Dee, Richard Ayoade, Tom Allen, Alan Davies, David Baddiel, Jason Manford, Sally Phillips, Josh Widdicombe, Desiree Burch, Jamali Maddix, Sophie Duker, Ria Lina and Ed Gamble.

Recording of the show, which is made by Expectation Entertainment (Intelligence, Alma's Not Normal), takes place on successive days at Riverside Studios in London from July 1st.

Commissioner Hilary Rosen says: "Working with Mel and Lou on Unforgivable is the best fun and I'm ecstatic that we are going again with this title. Our audience can expect bigger, better and ever more eye-popping confessions this time around."

Cherie Cunningham, Dave channel director, comments: "Mel and Lou are our absolute heroes at Dave. They make extracting the world's most unforgivable sins out of TV's finest look easy - a comedy force to be reckoned with, we welcome them back to the channel with open arms."

Executive producer Ben Wicks adds: "We are elated that the good people at Dave have asked Mel and Lou to continue their important work, creating a febrile comic atmosphere guaranteed to elicit jaw-dropping confessions out of comics and celebrities. We can't wait to see the next filthy raft of admissions, and nor can the Metropolitan police."

Currently touring her One Word: Wow stand-up show, Sanders has called Unforgivable "very therapeutic - it's cathartic. We're offering a service there!"

The guests are "lucky to have us" she told Portsmouth News earlier this month. "But we're all just human, it's nice to celebrate that. We've all made mistakes, and we're all trying our best."

And she said that not much was edited out of the show at the guests' requests, only "some tiny, little things. Some people are more precious than others, or worried about being cancelled and stuff.

"But I think it's very human to share your foibles and the terrible things we've done. It's not like someone did a racist attack - that would be truly awful. It's more like pooping, dating, stealing things - we've all got a past, and the sooner we realise that the better.

"I like it when people laugh at themselves, I hate it when they're uptight or pretend to be someone else."

The first two series of Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable are available on UKTV Play. Series 3 will air later this year on Dave and UKTV Play.
