Royal Television Society announces 2022 award nominations

- The RTS has announced nominations for its 2022 awards, with We Are Lady Parts leading the shortlists
- Other comedy nominees include Bloods, Alma's Not Normal, The Lateish Show With Mo Gilligan and Motherland
- Individuals up for prizes include Rosie Jones, Munya Chawawa, Jo Lycett, Katy Wix and Samson Kayo
The Royal Television Society (RTS) has announced shortlisted nominees for its 2022 Programme Awards.
The BBC leads the way with 30 nominations across the 24 categories, followed by Channel 4 with 28, Sky with 10 and ITV with 8. BBC One, ITV and Sky Arts will compete for the prestigious RTS Channel of the Year award at the ceremony on 29th March, hosted by Nish Kumar.
Chair of the Awards, Big Talk Productions boss and prolific comedy producer Kenton Allen, says: "Despite the unprecedented challenges the last two years have presented every single one of us, the sheer talent and amazing professionalism from UK creatives both in front of and behind the camera, has truly shone through. This year's nominees are incredible examples of the phenomenal skills and world-class talent working in UK television. A huge congratulations to all those nominated. We're really looking forward to gathering, in real life, to celebrate our wonderful industry at the RTS Programme Awards for the first time since those halcyon days of 2019."

Elsewhere, Gabrielle Creevy is nominated for Best Actor (Female) for her role in comedy drama In My Skin; Adjani Salmon (Dreaming Whilst Black) and Anjana Vasan (We Are Lady Parts) are nominated for the Breakthrough Award; and animated comedy The Rubbish World Of Dave Spud is shortlisted in the Best Children's Programme category.
In My Skin is also nominated for Best Drama Series, whilst Munya Chawawa (Race Around Britain) and Joe Lycett are up for Best Presenter.
Finally, Big Zuu's Big Eats has also been shortlisted for the Entertainment prize, and in Entertainment Performance, Rosie Jones and Mo Gilligan (plus AJ Odudu) are nominated for Trip Hazard and The Big Breakfast, respectively.
