  • Samson Kayo says: "I'm so excited the Bloods team are back together again for this new bigger and bolder series"

Production is underway on the second series of Bloods, the Sky sitcom based around a team of paramedics.

British Comedy Guide revealed in August that the comedy - which stars Samson Kayo and Jane Horrocks - was due to return for another series.

Filming is now underway on the new episodes, which are set to debut on the Sky Comedy channel and streaming service NOW in 2022.

Following the success of the first series, Sky has increased the series run to ten episodes. Sky confirms: "The 10 x 30 minute episodes will be shot at North London Studios and in various locations in South London and will continue to bring humorous relief to the world and characters of the paramedic service while recognising the talent of those who put their own lives at risk in an emergency to help keep us safe and healthy."

Kayo and Horrocks will return as the mismatched ambulance team, with Lucy Punch back as boisterous station boss Jo and Julian Barratt returning as grieving widower Lawrence.

Adrian Scarborough and Aasiya Shah reprise their roles as Gary and Kareshma, paramedics with diametrically apposing career outlooks, and Kevin Garry and Sam Campbell as the glued-to-the-hip duo of paramedics Darrell and Darryl.

Series 2 will see the addition of two new characters too. Katherine Kelly will play the ambulance station's acting counsellor, and Nathan Foad will play Wendy's son Spencer.

The news comes as it is revealed that US streaming service Hulu has acquired the show in a multi-season deal. It will air the first series from 9th December.

Samson Kayo says: "I'm so excited the Bloods team are back together again for this new bigger and bolder series. With ten episodes, there is going to be loads more laughs, friendship and fun for fans to enjoy. Maleek is reunited with his miss-matched paramedic partner Wendy and he can't wait to hit the roads again in their ambulance!"

Jane Horrocks comments: "I am very much looking forward to getting back to Bloods for Series 2. The scripts are already banging and Wendy is getting more naughty!"
