Kevin Bridges gets BBC series
The Sun newspaper reports that Scottish comic Kevin Bridges has been awarded his own prime-time BBC One show.
The rising stand-up star will present a six-part series titled The Kevin Bridges Show later this year. The exact format of the programme is currently unknown, but it is believed it will be a studio-based show which will be centred around the young comic's stand-up routines.
The Sun quotes an un-named source as saying: "It's great news for Kevin. He's working on loads of new gags - and they won't be jokes that only Scots will get."
The 24-year-old comedian, who is represented by the same agency as Jonathan Ross, Jack Dee and Alan Carr, has risen to fame quickly. His TV appearances include Channel 4's Comedy Gala (pictured); Would I Lie To You?; 8 Out Of 10 Cats; and Mock The Week. He has also headlined Live At The Apollo and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, and his stand-up DVD has sold over 300,000 copies.
However, perhaps Bridges' most high-profile work to-date is hosting the entire second series of Stand Up For The Week, Channel 4's relatively new topical comedy format. He took over hosting duties from Patrick Kielty for the second ten-part series of the stand-up show, which finished in May.
Kevin Bridges can next be seen on TV in BBC One's new Friday night series My Favourite Joke, which starts next week.
