Sharon Horgan is to host a new comedy chat show pilot based around awkward social situations.

Horgan, best known for co-writing and starring in BBC Three comedy Pulling, as well as appearing in the sitcoms Free Agents, Angelo's and The Increasingly Poor Decisions Of Todd Margaret, is being lined up to host Guilty Party.

The format is being developed by Hat Trick Productions, the makers of Have I Got News For You and Outnumbered. In Guilty Party, guests will be owning up to gaffes and blunders and coming up with some rules and tips for dealing with awkward situations.

The producers say: "Guilty Party is about awkward social situations and doing the wrong thing, from the unwritten rules of Pub Etiquette to the nightmare that is having to introduce someone whose name you've forgotten. These awkward situations crop up every day leading to embarrassment, shame and guilt."

The trial episode of the show will be recorded on Monday 27th June at The London Studios. To be in the audience see our free tickets page

Sharon Horgan is set to host this week's Have I Got News For You.

The writer and actress is also due to star in a new BBC Three series later this year. Life Stories, a sitcom set in a prison, has been co-written by Horgan alongside stand-up comedian Holly Walsh. Horgan plays the lead character Helen Stephens, a woman who is falsely imprisoned but can't get out of jail because her fiancé - who is also her alibi - prefers her being in prison as he just can't face dumping her.
