A recording of Celebrity Juice has been cut short due to a major power failure at Elstree Film Studios.

Leigh Francis, Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton were part way through recording the episode when the studio was plunged into darkness. When engineers were unable to restore power, the episode was abandoned.

Holly Willoughby shared a video on her Instagram account featuring Keith Lemon, which can be watched below. She explained: "We were filming the show and then suddenly everything went to black. I thought it was just that everybody was getting a bit hot in the studio so they turned the studio lights off, not the case at all..."

Lemon then explains: "The studio lights is broke, and the aircon is broke, the power is out in the studio of Celebrity Juice. We've got all the chat done at the beginning which we normally do, which is cut sporadically into the programme, you don't know that but it is, but we haven't played any games."

He concludes: "I don't know what will happen to this episode."

Celebrity Juice is due to return for its 20th series with a 10th birthday special next Thursday (13th September). That episode was filmed last night.

The guests in the episode abandoned this evening included Joel Dommett, Catherine Tyldesley, Eamonn Holmes and X Factor winning band Rak-Su.

After leaving the studio, Dommett, Tyldesley and Holmes all joined the audience outside to chat and pose for photographs.

It is not yet clear when or whether the recording will be rescheduled, but further studio dates begin again next week, and a tweet posted by Tyldesley referred to meeting again next week with the hashtag '#groundhogday'.

Celebrity Juice Series 20 is due to run until mid-November. Willoughby will only appear in six of the ten episodes as she is set to travel to Australia to co-present I'm A Celebrity this Autumn too.

Update: The participants re-grouped on another day to finish filming, however as Eamonn Holmes was unavailable, John Thomson stepped in to be Eamonn. Episode Guide
