Miranda voted best comedy of 2010
Miranda, the BBC Two sitcom written by and starring Miranda Hart, has been named Comedy Of The Year 2010 in the annual Comedy.co.uk Awards.
The awards, which are run each January by British Comedy Guide, aim to name the best and worst new British comedy programmes via a big online public vote. Every new British comedy broadcast on TV and radio during the last 12 months is included in the nominations list, and the results are based completely on the public poll making for a fair and un-biased winner selection process.
Miranda, which has just been recommissioned by the BBC for a third series, edged ahead of The Inbetweeners and Peep Show in the voting to claim the overall top award.
Meanwhile Frankie Boyle's Tramadol Nights, the controversial Channel 4 sketch show, was named the worst comedy show of 2010. It received more negative votes from the public than any of the other 358 programmes on the nominations list.
Other comedies to win categories in The Comedy.co.uk Awards 2010 include The Trip, Peep Show, Another Case Of Milton Jones, That Mitchell And Webb Look, Sarah Millican's Support Group, QI, I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue and Newswipe With Charlie Brooker.
